:: A Bit o' Brit! ::

Last week, my hubs celebrated his 35th birthday.
As he hails from the UK, I thought it would be more than appropriate to create this card above using one of my newest stamp acquistion from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps ("Elaine") for his birthday card.

I started out by colouring the KKS image with copics, I shaded the background with a Prismacolour pencil crayon (Gray 20%) and blended the crayon with some Gamsol.  I lined the edge of the image with White Opal Perfect Pearls and adhered it to some Bazzil Basics red card stock once the pearls were dry.

The front sentiment was stamped with some ColourBox Black pigment ink, embossed with clear embossing powder and the edges were inked with ColourBox "Wild Hare" pigment.

I cut out a piece of plain white cardstock to create a 5 1/2"x 5 1/2" card, then scoring the side card flaps at 2 3/4" to create a gate fold.  Using some paper from my stash, I created two panels for the outside flaps.

For the inside of the card, I decided to keep with the "English" theme and purchased a gift card from one of my hubs favourite British treat shoppe and created a pocket from a WeR Memory Keepers die-cut which I discovered in one of my scrapbook stores (and have been dying to use!).  I cut a piece of cardstock to fit the back of the die-cut to create a pocket and embellished the die-cut with "Red Xmas" Stickles and some glossy accents for "Big Ben".

On a separate piece of paper, I stamped the birthday sentiment in ColourBox "Scarlet" pigment ink and embossed it with some clear embossing powder.  Rounding the top corners with my Corner chomper, I then slipped the sentiment into the pocket (as shown above).   I wrote my message in behind the gift card, so that he took the card out, he could read who it was from!

The embellishments on the card are from my stash (the white and red florals, Kaisercraft blue pearls, American Craft "Sky" buttons) although I created the Union Jack flag embellish by cutting out the flag some unused papers and stickles.

In short, he loved the card and has found a place for it where he can look at it each day!

Thanks for stopping by!
